CLEVELAND, Ohio – After a brief hiatus this fall, Frontier Airlines’ new nonstop route between Cleveland and San Juan, Puerto Rico, will increase to daily service in January.

The new Frontier route started in May with four-times per week service to San Juan. It was the first nonstop flight between Cleveland and San Juan since 2017, when United Airlines flew the route.

The flight is being paused for two months this fall, starting Tuesday, Sept. 5. It will resume Nov. 17 with four-times per week service (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday). And then, on Jan. 3, it will be offered daily.

Frontier is also restarting service to two popular Florida destinations, Sarasota and Miami.

* Nonstop flights between Cleveland and Sarasota resume Dec. 21 and will run daily.

* Flights to Miami will start Nov. 16 and will run three times per week, on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.

The Florida additions will bring Frontier’s total destinations from Cleveland Hopkins to 18, more than any other carrier.

Meanwhile, Cleveland Hopkins welcomed 950,103 passengers in July, up 20% over a year ago, but just shy of the 1 million passengers airport officials were predicting. Year-to-date figures show just over 5 million passengers traveled through the airport through July, up 11.5% over 2022 figures.
